 The team behind ePrep has identified a lab process that has not kept up with the advances in analytical instrumentation; sample preparation techniques and practices are well recognised as the weak link in analytical chemistry processes and the ePrep team has developed an all encompassing automated solution.

Whether it’s 5 or 500 samples, ePrep provides accurate automated sample preparation with consistent results.

SETUP METHODS IN MINUTES

The software is very simple to set up and operate. After an initial 30 minute familiarisation, most "workflows" can then be created and validated in 5-15 minutes. Workflow programs that have previously been developed and saved can be recalled and ready for operation almost instantly.

XCHANGE® TOOL CHANGE TECHNOLOGY

Adaptable configuration for sample preparation requirements
At the heart of ePrep's success is the ability to complete sample preparation tasks, particularly when the volume range required for multiple liquid transfer steps cannot be achieved with one tool. The in-built XCHANGE tool change technology enables the most appropriate tool to be automatically engaged for each task sequenced in a sample preparation workflow; with XCHANGE, there is no compromise on accuracy, precision and speed.

As well as a host of syringes, tools and accessories, an extensive range of the commonly used vials and racks are available that are pre-configured in the software. Positions of syringes, vial racks and vials are detected by RFID and proximity sensors, then compared back to the Workflow program for validity, negating user errors.

Samples can be prepared away from analytical instrumentation directly into a wide range of Autosampler Racks, which can then simply be transferred to the analytical instrument autosampler for analysis.

The ePrep Sample Preparation Workstation utilises a suite of innovative technologies to bring automation of sample preparation to every laboratory.

Rapid programming and simple instrument configuration allow ePrep to be configured in minutes for even complex Workflows. It takes around 15 minutes to develop and validate a Workflow from scratch and only minutes if the Workflow has been previously developed and saved.

The ePrep's standalone operation also improves flexibility and effectiveness in a laboratory setting. Samples can be prepared away from analytical instrumentation and directly into a wide range of Autosampler Racks. Once the preparation is complete, the rack can simply be transferred to the analytical instrument reducing complexity in sample processes.

Bulk Solvent Manifold for ePrep

Bulk solvent manifoldWhen larger reagent or solvent volumes are required the Solvent Manifold can be used to deliver liquids from bulk solvent bottles stationed alongside the ePrep. Up to 10 ports are available to serve off deck solvent to standard or µSPEed syringes using the Solvent Manifold. The unit is mounted in the Accessories area, located on the left side of the ePrep deck. The manifold is fitted with one-way passive valves allowing a syringe to be filled and then waste channelled to a collection bottle without any syringe movement. This enables faster sample processing.

The solvent manifold is suitable for µSPEed cartridge and 0.64mm OD needle operation configured with 3ports with µSPEed syringe connection and 7 ports with 0.64mm OD syringe needle connection

µSPEed Cartridge Rack

µSPEed Cartridge RackThe µSPEed Cartridge Rack is a self-aligning rack and adapter plate combination for reliable µSPEed cartridge operation on the ePrep. Self-alignment ensures correct engagement of the ePrep syringe with a µSPEed cartridge held in the rack.

Kit Contents: Self Aligning Rack for µSPEed Cartridges (96 cartridges) with ePrep Adapter Plate and RFID. Supplied with a 100µL Endurance ePrep/µSPEed syringe.

µ1.5-2mL Vial Vortex Mixer

Vial Vortex MixerAn Orbital Shaker is available for vial mixing where mixing or agitation is required. It can be simply added to a Workflow in any position.

Functions of the Shaker include:
  • orbital motion

  • Low stirring speed to ultra-vigorous mixing and vortexing speeds for viscous liquids; 60 to 3570 RPM

eDirect™ - Syringe-to-Detector Interface

eDirect- Syringe to Detector InterfaceeDirect™ is a fantastic addition to any laboratory. It allows the interfacing of a standard 23 gauge needle syringe directly to a chromatography detector. It’s simple to use yet extremely versatile in its application. Its uses include dispensing the contents of a syringe or μSPEed cartridge directly to a Mass Spectrometer, UV/Vis, fluorescence, IR or any chromatography detector or chromatography interface.

GAS TIGHT NEEDLE SEAL
eDirect features a soft seal which forms a liquid tight connection around a needle inserted into the interface. Sample is transferred directly from the needle through a small bore transfer tube to the detector with minimal band broadening.

VARIABLE SEAL POSITION
The eDirect is mounted on the deck of the ePrep so the ePrep can be used to infuse directly into a detector. It also makes the interface suitable for robotic or autosampler applications where variations in syringe position can be variable.

INTERFACE TUBE
eDirect is supplied with a 500mm length of 1/32” OD x 100μm ID Peeksil™ (fused silica lined PEEK) transfer tubing. Micro Unions are supplied to connect the Peeksil™ tubing to the detector. The micro union is supplied with 1/32”-1/32” and 1/32”-1/16” two way ferrules.

EXAMPLE APPLICATIONS

  • ePrep direct MS Infusion from syringe or μSPEed micro separation cartridge to mass spectrometer.

  • Direct infusion into UV/Vis detector from µSPEed micro separation cartridge.
  • Connection of ePrep Syringe to an HPLC Injection Port.

Syringe Filter Kit for ePrep

Syringe Filter KitThe syringe filter kit enables luer syringe filters to be used on ePrep for sample filtering in a Workflow. The kit enables most 4mm to 25mm diameter commercial syringe filters to be used with ePrep.

SYRINGE FILTER RACK
The Rack is a self-aligning rack and adapter plate combination for reliable syringe filter operation on the ePrep. The rack can hold 70 commercially available filters in two layers of 35 and is compatible with disk filters up to 25mm diameter.

SYRINGE FILTER DISPOSAL BIN
The Syringe Filter Disposal Bin supplier with the kit enables simple and safe detachment and disposal of used filters

A special 2.5mL positive displacement ePrep syringe is supplied with the kit. Maximum filtered volume will depend on the hold-up volume of the filter.

50mm Luer Hub Needles (P/N 01-10995) are supplied to prefill the syringe prior to filter connection. Short 30mm luer hub needles (also supplied) are fitted to the filter outlet for sealed vial operation.

Disposable Syringe KitFor method protocols requiring strict sample non-cross contamination and where syringe washing is not possible, Eprep has developed Syngles disposable syringes that can be automated on the ePrep platform. 1mL Syngles syringes use a medical grade polypropylene body and TPE detachable plunger tip. They are suitable for aqueous and most HPLC solvents. Accuracy of these syringes is ±5%.

Two versions of Syngles Syringes are available, one with a fitted 50mm needle and the other with a conical luer tip. Luer Syngles are suitable for all standard ISO594 luer taper fittings, such as syringe filters and liquid connections.

Starter Kit Contents: Rack with ePrep Adapter Plate, Waste Syringe Bin, XCHANGE Tool for Singles, 84 x 1mL Syngles Disposable Syringes with fitted needle.

Bar Code Reader Module

Bar Code ReaderWhere identification and recording of vials used in a workflow is required, the ePrep 2D barcode reader can be simply retrofitted to the ePrep by lab staff or service personnel.

The barcode reader uses a 2D barcode engine capable of reading 1D and 2D bar codes from a range of vial sizes. The ePrep Gripper is used to pickup and rotate the vial during the read, which is particularly useful for small vials where the barcode wraps around the vial.
The 2D barcode engine supports all main stream 1D barcodes as well as PDF417, QRCode (QR1, QR2, Micro QR), Data Matrix and GS-1 Databar™ (RSS) (RSS-Limited, RSS-14, RSS-14 Stacked and RSS-Expand).

ePrep software is configured to record the following bar code information: Date, Analysis Number, Work Order, Sample Number, Sample Name, Origin, Batch Number and Expiry Date.

The software has 3 standard menus: Quick Run (for quick and simple methods), Method Run (for more customised, saved and complex methods) and Settings (with basic preference adjustments, software updates, re-zeroing of plunger and changing the syringe).

Quick Run Mode


Quick Run has been designed for simplicity and efficiency. It allows the user to quickly create and execute a basic process with the eXact³ and can be as simple to use as picking up a manual syringe while providing extreme precision.

Method Run Mode


Creating specific methods, saving, editing or copying existing methods can all be achieved through this menu. Methods can include a range of differing functions such as Prime, Purge, Aspirate, Dispense, Loop, Prompt and Pause. Methods can be built with multiple steps, saved and recalled for future use. Options are also provided to control parameters such as volume, flowrate, priming, pausing and setting residual volume for the applicable functions. Even µSPE processes can be programmed.

Settings


Options to change syringe, re-zero plunger and basic preferences can be accessed from the Settings menu. Settings also include time and date, brightness, sleep settings, sound levels, Bluetooth connection and updating software.

Calibration Standards (optional Add-on)


Calibration Standards includes pre-programmed, multipoint, standard dilution profiles. Take the pain and error out of preparing calibration standards.

ePrep Standard Analytical Syringes

Prep Standard Analytical Syringe
The ePrep glass barrel syringe range covers volumes typically used in sample preparation operation.

These gas tight syringes are fitted with an 80mm, 23gauge needle designed to reach to the bottom of vials up to 20mL. A uniquely coded RFID tag is fitted to each syringe for ePrep Workflow identification.

The RFID tag is fitted to the syringe ready to load on to the ePrep tool rack. ePrep software will recognise the syringe volume and enable the user to add additional identification information within the software. The ePrep software also allows for calibration factors and syringe life information to be installed.

ePrep Syringes with µSPEed Connection

Prep Standard Analytical Syringe
µSPEed (Endurance™) Syringes offer a fresh approach to analytical liquid dispensing syringes.

These syringes offer longer life and improved pressure performance over conventional Teflon tipped syringes. Syringe lifetimes can be more than half a million cycles under pressure.

Syringes use a metal sheathed glass barrel with wetted surface area materials including DLC (100-500µL) & PEEK (1mL-2.5mL), Teflon, Kelrez®, 316 Stainless Steel and borosilicate glass. µSPEed syringes are fitted with a “spiked” needle fitting and guide to ensure correct high pressure connection to µSPEed cartridges, filters, needles and columns. (Patent pending).

ePrep Vial Gripper

Vial Gripper
A Vial Gripper is available for methods requiring movement of vials from rack to rack.
These may include vial shaking, mixing and bar code reading. The Vial Gripper operation can be programmed as a standard Workflow operation on ePrep.

The Gripper can rotate a vial 360°, which allows reading of barcodes wrapped around a vial and/or agitating a vial for mixing. The Gripper is suitable for 8.7mm to 30mm OD vials.

Syringes for the eXact³ motorised drive require a 30mm scale.
These syringes especially for the eXact³use an inert, high performance, o-ring plunger seal, these syringes offer longer life and improved pressure performance over conventional syringes

ePrep’s positive-displacement µSPEed Syringes are designed specifically for use with our range of µSPEed and SPEmx cartridges.
