About Scientific Systems Inc

SSI have been making pumps since 1967, and has developed a wide portfolio of HPLC pumps.

With an emphasis on high pressure, positive displacement pumps, SSI has developed innovative features such as automatic piston wash and high pressure pulse dampeners to improve ease of use and performance of our HPLC pumps. SSI also maintains a core product line of HPLC accessories, valves and other fluid path components.

M1 Class Pumps (Single piston pumps with excellent capability at a low cost)

SSI M1class pumpThe compact M1 Class consists of single-headed, positive displacement piston pumps that deliver high-performance and precision at an affordable price. Superior to Gear, Diaphragm, and Peristaltic pumps, the M1 Class provides greater performance at an equivalent cost to lesser-functioning products.

Applications include:

  • precise chemical metering
  • dispensing
  • specific HPLC separations

Standard fluid path materials are Stainless Steel and PEEK. With 10 mL/min, 40 mL/min, and 100 mL/min versions, reaching pressures up to 2,000 psi, these pumps capture the majority of typical laboratory fluid transfer applications.

MX Class (High performance isocratic pumps at an affordable price)

SSI MX Class PumpThe economical MX Class consists of single-headed, positive displacement piston pumps incorporating additional features for challenging applications. With pressure capability up to 5,000 psi, the MX Class can be used in both analytical and small-scale preparative HPLC separations.

Applications include:

  • analytical HPLC separations
  • small-scale scale preparative HPLC separations

LS Class Pumps (High performance isocratic pumps)

SSI LS class pumpsThe reliable LS Class consists of single-headed, positive displacement piston pumps incorporating advanced cam designs for very low pulsation. With micro-stepping motor technology and a proven single-piston pump mechanism, the LS Class exceeds the performance of more expensive units at a fraction of the cost.

The pumps are ideal for a wide variety of HPLC applications (including Bio-compatible separations), Semi-Prep LC, metering & dispensing, and general laboratory use.

LS Class (Binary Gradient Pumps)

SSI LS Binary class pumpsThe customizable Binary Gradient Pumping System, part of the LS Class, is an advanced pumping system for two-solvent high-pressure gradient applications. The system is designed with two single-head positive displacement piston pumps integrated into a functional enclosure.

Equipped with belt drive pump mechanisms with shaped cam and electronic fast refill, the system produces very low pulsation. Fluid path materials are stainless steel and PEEK, with optional titanium.

The LD class of pumps consists of dual-headed, positive displacement piston pumps, delivering unmatched performance for analytical, flash, and small-scale preparative chromatography applications. With the patented SSI low dead-volume pulse dampener, advanced cam technology and dual piston mechanism, the LD Class provides virtually pulse-free operation.

The pumps are designed for high flow rate accuracy and low pulsation required for analytical HPLC applications. Available fluid path materials are Stainless Steel and PEEK and titanium.

CP Class (Constant Pressure Dual Head Pumps)

SSI CP class pumps
The high performance CP Class consists of dual-headed, positive displacement piston pumps with constant pressure control, covering a wide range of flows, with pressures up to 25,000 psi. Other available features include jacketed heads for temperature controlled processes.

CP Class pumps are widely used for LC Column packing, as well as many process applications. The constant-pressure feedback loop automatically adjusts solvent flow to maintain constant system pressure and allows the user to select a wide range of process parameters, including desired pressure set point, ramp rate, and upper flow rate limit.

CP Class (Constant pressure column packing system)

cp-classThe Next Generation Column Packing System is perfect for quickly and safely packing efficient, reproducible columns. With pressures up to 10,000psi or 18,000psi (depending on version ordered), the user can expect increased plate counts by up to 20%, higher yields, and the ability to pack ultra-small particles with consistent bed density.

For continuous and repeatable high throughput applications where purchasing new columns can quickly become expensive, users can easily pack their own columns to rapidly see a return on their investment.

This system can also be used for new column research and development, and comes with an intuitive column packing reservoir, column hardware, stationary phase, and all necessary inlet and outlet tubing (solvents and computer not included).
